Information for companies
What measures can companies take to effectively protect their intellectual property? Besides legal steps it is possible to take different proactive measures. In 2007, important national economic associations published a paper pointing out strategies about how to prevent counterfeiting.
Building on this German paper the representatives of the G8 states adopted under the chair of the German Association of Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) and the Federation of German Industries (BDI) a common document called "Strategy of G8 Industry and Business to Promote Intellectual Property Protection and to Prevent Counterfeiting and Piracy".
In general, a sustainable strategy can be recommended, going beyond reacting in single cases.

„Product piracy may be life threatening, when car or airplane parts are being forged. Product piracy destroys jobs when businesses lose their markets. Quality and high-class work deserve our protection.
APM makes a reasonable contribution to these efforts."
